We forgot what the WLD really is.

The “I” was never meant to separate us from it.
We are part of the ecosystem—not visitors to it.

What we call wilderness was once tended like a garden.
The people of these lands understood how to live with nature,
working with it rather than against it.

WLD is a reminder to return to that relationship—
to participate, to tend, and to leave the land better than we found it.
